Damn the apple...

theres no "Psychological " reason.

because of eve ate from the forbidden tree and it wasnt an apple know where in the bible state that it was an apple it says the forbidden fruit

you took the words out of meh mouth. i was going to say baby making. =\

Look up Adam & Eve LOL

Evolution.

How old are you kid?

So we can have babies

there is not 'sycological' reason

it's not psychological, it's a natual process that cleans the vagina and get's rid of old eggs.

its when ur egg isnt fertilized by sperm it cleans out the lining of your uterus(mostly blood) that would of held the egg and builds a new lining for the next month, which if not fertilized with be another wonderful period too

A period is where a women sheds her menstrual lining and non fertilized egg (ovum) to make way for a new egg to start the process all over again

Biologically, you're ovary releases an egg once a month and if that egg is not fertilized, the lining of your uterus will shed and you will have a period.

hormone fluctuations in the body that coincide with cycles of the moon and discard used eggs in an attempt to attain fertility.

periods, or menstruation, is a way of cleaning our your reproductive system. It's a type of detox to rid your body of waste.

i think the reason we have it is because -and not to sound like a Bible thumper- but because God warned both Adam & Eve that women would have to pay the price for Eve's misconduct in the Garden of Eden, once she disobeyed God. and i think having a period is one of the most punishable occurences in the world! yes, i will probably get a million thumbs down for this one, but i'm gonna still say what i think.

it is because the egg in ovary was not fertilized so it drops down then the blood is the body washing the walls of the ovaries. preparing it for the next egg. wiping the slate clean

Periods are a necessary function of our bodies. They rid us of eggs that are past their prime allowing fresh ones in their place. Once we are no longer able to carry a child to term, the body knows that it's time to stop doing its thing & our periods are replaced by an even bigger pain-in-the-butt, menopause. Yay! Aren't we the lucky ones.

your uterus builds up blood every month so that an egg, if fertilized can have a nice cushion in which to implant itself. the spot it picks inside the uterus - the build up of blood then turns into placenta which nourishes the baby for 9 months. if the egg that comes out of the fallopian tube is not fertilized, then the uterus sheds the lining as this blood is only good for 7 days before it breaks down the nutrients. hope this answer helps end some confusion.

if you believe in the Bibile....

it was punishment to Eve for eating the forbidden fruit.

God gave her the task of child bearing.

plus. since women are the ones who have babies, and we ovulate each month, there has to be somewhere for extra tissue and blood to go. [you do know how periods work, right?] if it was all built inside, we could eventually suffer some srious stuff and maybe even die.

dont know really i'm thinkin of females have hormones and ...
look i'm a guy

ask a doctor or look it up.

Possibly evolutionary. I mean maybe there were two people in the beginning but wouldn't that mean we are inbred and as inbreds there would be genetic deterioration over time?

Its hard to give a psychological answer to that question. Its almost like asking "Why do we have brains?".

I wonder if female animals also have periods or not. Would be interesting to know if my dog was angry at me for some time in the month and I didn't know. LOL

Sorry I didn't asnwer your question!

It is because a woman ovulates (produces an egg) once a month and your body produces a protective thick blood layer to protect the egg, then if it is not fertilized (through sex) the body sheds the outer protective blood layer. Hope this helps!

Guys don't have periods because they do not have the reproductive organs (ovaries and a uterus) that allow a woman to menstruate.

Girls have two ovaries. Each one holds hundreds of thousands of very tiny eggs. Until they ripen and are released from the ovary, the eggs are so tiny that you can only see them with a microscope. By the time an egg is released it is the biggest cell in the human body
