Tampons leak no matter what size or make?!

Question: i cant use them because of this and have no idea what is going on , although i have had 3 kids none came out that way so being to loose isnt the problem, i just leak past it, also my loss seems to be rather thick and clotty is that the reason?

if you have thick and clotty periods then im afraid that the tampons wont absorb it and that pads are the best option, I recommend always as they are very comfortable and i find that the wings especially keep the pads in place.
Hope this helps
sorry that i cant be of any more help

Maybe tampons just dont work for your body? You could try other methods of sanitary protection, and if you are still worried, see your GP.

Maybe you should wear a pad as well as a back up plan

It sounds like your cycle may be abnormally heavy and you may want to talk to your gynecologist.

From your additional details, you may have changes in your Uterus or it may be prolapsed .......Here is some info for you to check into. www.emedicinehealth.com

It sounds like you have a very heavy flow, and need to change them more often. I have actually heard of women having to wear 2 at a time. I'm sure this is not recommended, and not the safest thing to do, but maybe just try changing them every 3 hours on heavy days, instead of every 5 hours, or whatever timing works for you. If you have no luck with that, talk to your Ob/Gyn. Maybe there is a problem, or something they can suggest to help.

It could be you just have a naturally heavy flow and you are getting to the maximum absorbency of the tampons you use quickly. I have this problem myself and I find that changing them more often and using a higher absorbency helps. I also use a panty shield in case some does leak by.

However, it would still be a good idea to mention this to your gynecologist and see what they have to say about it. I was put on medroxyprogesterone to make my cycles shorter and lighter.

Thick or clotty, if you're using tampons correctly they will not leak unless your flow is too heavy for the size you've chosen.

Because you've had 3 kids - your vagina has been stretched, and so this could be the reason why your menstrual blood "leaks past" the tampon completely. Maybe the tampon cannot position itself correctly due to this. I'm no expert but it could be a possibility.

If your flow is always thick and clotty, try using super tampons?

Do you mean that the tampon isn't absorbing any blood at all rather that absorbing too much then leaking? If that's the case I think you see a gynaecologist, they could explain things a lot better than anyone on this site. You also mention that your period is thick and clotty. It may be that the blood is so thick that the cotton of the tampon can't absorb any of it. You should definitely see a professional about this, as it doesn't seem normal.

Sounds to me that you are not inserting the tampon properly. Put one leg up on the edge of your bath or toilet bowl when you insert the tampon and make sure that it goes as far into the vagina as you can get it without feeling pain. Hope this works for you Good Luck. And buy good quality ones with an applicator

If you're still seeing when the string attatches, then it's not in all the way.

Look at the photos in the booklet that comes with your tampons. You need to insert them all the way in. If you can see the base where the string attaches you are at least 2 inches too low.

I used to get this problem but then I changed to a tampon designed for a lighter flow and this seemed to do the trick!

Strange I know but try it and see what happens. When I had the medium flow tampax, it leaked all the time but with the lightest flow tampax (the purple ones) I dont leak at all.

I still try to change them every 5/6 hours though cos they seem to absorb better.

I was told before on here when I asked this question, that it comes out white because of other fluids in your vagina like it's natural lubricant that is absorbed. So this could be the cause for you too, which means that you are always going to get a small amount of white still left on your tampon no matter what I'm sorry to say.

If that doesn't solve your problem then I think that you would be better off just using pads to be honest cos nothing else other than a different brand is going to work.
