Bad cramps?!

Question: The past few months my cramps have gotten pretty bad, they make me feel absolutly horrible, I've even missed school because I couldn't even stand the pain. I'm 18 and I've had period since I was 13. Why have they gotten so painful? I have take Midol, Tylnol, and Advil for pain but nothing seems to work. What can I do to help decrease the pain... Please help!!!

There are so many things that could be causing your period pain and cramping. No one will know what they are or how to treat them except for your physician. And that should be something to consider as your health is extremely important.

But, there are some things you can do to help decrease the pain. Both warm and cool compresses can help alleviate the pain for short periods of time. Also, studies prove that exercising despite the pain will help relieve it. Light exercise would be best - things like restorative yoga, stretching, and walking. You can also try different pain relievers to see what helps most. And be sure to drink plenty of water and other fluids as that will help flush the toxins from your body.

Again, the best thing to do should be to see your doctor - just in case it's something serious. But, no worries - most likely it is nothing or potentially a treatable ovarian cyst or endometriosis. But, most importantly, take care of yourself before, during, and after your period.

I hope you feel better!

Usually a woman's body changes every 7 years.. but seems like you have only has yours for 5. Mine also have increased the last few months where my cramps are so bad.. The only other thing you can do is go to Gyno and see if there is anything else.. A friend of mine has endometriosis and that entitles really bad cramps.. Feel better

take a heating pad and put it on your lower belly (not on the skin, through like a thin T) also if your not on birth control yet, you might want to look into it, my sis has a really hard time before she starts her periods and the doctor put her on a low dosage BC. good luck

You should see a OB/GYN. You could have endometriosis, or just severe cramps. You may be prescribed birth control. Good luck.

taking brith control can make cramps almost go away!!!!
