If you didn't have a vaginal opening you would know it. Your mother changed your diaper for years so she would have noticed if there was something wrong.

They should be, but some girls are born with non patent (open) vaginas which can be corrected with a simple surgical procedure. You may have difficulty b/c young girls can have a thin flap of skin called the hymen that covers the vaginal opening until it is opened by rough sports or sexual activity.
Ask your mom if you don't know.
