Made a mistake with my contraceptive pills.?!

Question: I use to be on the 28 day pill called micro-gynon but I got bad side-effects and the clinic had no other type to give me so for one month I had to take Ovral L until they got new ones. Ovral L is a 21 day pill and for 7 seven days you don't take any...But I made a mistake and started the new pill the clinic gave me right after the 21 days were up (its a 28 day pill called Marvelon). My period was due on Friday but I've only been getting red dots mixed with very bad discharge. Does my mistake mean that my period will be due after the 28 days of the new pill? and what do the red dots mean? is it the period which was going to come? I'm kinda worried though I don't think I could be pregnant.

You should get your regular period during the last week of the new pill pack. You're probably having breakthrough bleeding right now. It can be caused by switching birth control pills or skipping your period week.

Breakthrough bleeding that recurs several months after you start a new pill may mean you need a pill with higher hormone levels, but spotting is common during the first one to three months.

You'll be fine. What you are having is break-through bleeding which is common when you don't take the 1 week break to have your period. Your period will arrive as usual at the end of the next pack.

You will get your period after the 28 days are up and the red dots could be breakthrough bleeding which means that the current pill Marvelon is not strong enough for you. You may need another kind of pill, sorry..............
