It's very complex. It's illegal in the US but legal in the UK.
The pill takes longer than a surgical abortion and u need to go to the dr. about 3 times. The pills are 1. the actual abortion pill 2. anti naseau pill 3. a pain killer.
1-12 hrs after u take the pill, you will experience cramping then bleeding.

Well i think the pills come in a container which tells you how to use it. And well for how it works when you take it i think its stops like the eggs from coming out of the ovaries
If by the "abortion pill" you mean the morning after pill, then nobody's 100% sure on it but they think it works by either preventing your ovaries from releasing an egg or by thinning the lining of the uterus to prevent an egg from attaching itself.
It can be taken up to three days after sex and I've personally used it twice and it didn't affect me at all, no side effects or anything. The most common side effect is nausea so the doctor usually gives you gravol to take half an hour before hand. Also there are two sets of pills which you take 12 hours apart from each other.
