You can probably have one now. I didn't have my first until 18. They don't hurt at all. It is just annoying having someone poking around down there. You don't have to have them but it's advisable to have it once a year so that you know that you are in good health down there. Cervical cancer is treatable if they find it early, and they can only find it early if you go in for a check up.

smear tests maybe a bit uncomfortable, but they do not hurt. Check with your doctor. Maybe if you are a virgin you might not need one

You don't need to have one until you are sexually active. And no, they don 't hurt - a little uncomfortable maybe.

well to be honest my first one hurt as u i was a virgin i had to have one because of a medical issue. as far as i no you dont have to have one unless u have a problem or untill you are sexually active. but its best to talk to your family doctor to be sure. good luck. lanay

no not at all, but you wont NEED to have one for a while unless you feel paranoid about cervicla cancer

It is recommended that you get your first one after you turn 18 or after you begin having sex, whichever comes first, then you should have one each year. If you have other reproductive health problems you might need one sooner or more often.

It's a little uncomfortable but it's not really painful and it only takes a minute or two.

Many doctors would not consider performing a smear, particularly in a virgin, until the patient is over 20 years. Smears, provided the patient is relaxed should be no more than mildly uncomfortable.

(As you are still a virgin it might be worth talking to your GP about the cervical cancer vaccine. It is beginning to be rolled out now.)

they are just a bit uncomfortable, you only have them done every 3/4 years unless they find something wrong.
