Without health insurance for nine months but needs meds.?!
Question: I live in the state of Ohio, just moved out here about a month ago and started a new job and I figured you know, the insurance would kick in after 90 days but I was just informed it would take NINE MONTHS. But there is a problem of I am going to have to see the GYN and get my PAP tests and birth control and such before these nine months are up. And I have to have my birth control because of medical reasons. Can anyone give me any of ideas of what to do or just a few words of advice, it would be great. Thanks.

For what you need go to planned parenthood and they use a sliding scale for payment. Also, the department of health and human services (family services) can be of some assistance.
Next, get a doctor on record. Call around and ask the receptionist what an office visit will cost without insurance. Make an appointment with one just to get established as a patient. Pay for the office visit the first time. After that, many doctors will allow you to make payment plans for visits and many can do the pap stuff.
**In ohio look up "womens health clinics" many offer all services at reduced rates and sliding scale payments.
