A PMS Question-Girls Only!?!

Question: Hi everyone :)

I never used to feel any pain when I get my PMS, but recently, I've been feeling normal cramps that my body can handle.

My last period was extremely painful :(
The first & third day went well, but the second & forth were hell for me. I couldn't study, or focus on anything & couldn't even sleep.

Is this normal?
& why did it start hurting all of a sudden??

Also, any good meds I can use that'll ease the pain?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Totally normal.......every month 4 me is diff, but some months I suffer so bad. My grandma used to be bed ridden for 2 days, she had cramps so bad. It is hereditary, but also sometimes our female parts can form lil cysts that burst during menstrulation causing some months more pain than others. I like Pamprin the best......but it makes me majorly sleepy....zzzzzzz... so I take in the evening when I don't have 2 work, drive, etc... during the day I use Ibuprofen. My doc has also prescribed Naproxan (Nsaid) for the cramps which also help. See ur doc if no meds are helping u. Also heating pad is great!!!!

P.S. Birth control is supposed to help cramps, but did nothing 4 me! It did decrease the length of bleeding & amt of bleeding, but still got those pesty cramps!!

Here's the being a woman...yahoooooo....... =)

Not every period will be the same, but yes, you should consider seeing your Gyn with significant changes in level of pain, etc.

the same thing happened to my girlfriend. When her periods got really really bad, her doctor told her birth control can help. It reduces the length and intensity of the period. A lot of people go on it even if they aren't sexually active to help stop cramping.

I agree with what the first person said, as well as your body changes all the time... hormones change your chemistry changes. Also, depending on things such as excersize and amnt of eggs dropped you may feel more or less pain.

I suggest Alieve it works wonders... cheaper than most period medicines and works better. Also a hot compress on your lower stomache can work wonders.

Ok, I don't know the normal level of pain for mentraul cramps (so I'd brush it by you doc) but when I get cramps I used Tylenol Mentsrual Cramps
takes about a half an hour to work but works for me!

My advice would be to simply use the classic methods of using a heating pad and taking some ibuprofen. If you have a boyfriend, have him put his hand on your lower stomach/cramps. That always helps me, I could never really figure out why. Maybe cause the human touch is relaxing. If the cramps continue to get really bad, go to a doctor. I once had a friend who had such bad cramps that she would throw up and couldn't move. Her dr prescribed her some Naproxin, and now she's fine. Good luck

PMS stands for PRE menstrual syndrome. that means having things like bloating, cramps, headaches, etc. BEFORE your period. some of us are extreme while others arn't affected at all. your not PMSing. your having menstrual discomfort. try taking pamprin

well it`s normal to feel pain
i`ve seen girls crying because of it
they say working out before helps
i haven`t tried it though
don`t take medicine!

i dont no how old you are but painful periods are normal but if they usually are not painful and have become very painful i would get it checked to be on the safe side because it could also be a sign of ovarian cysts which are not usually dangerous but need attention sometimes.

sounds like you may need to see the doctor.
if you self-medicate and you have a problem that could be bad

this is the most important time for me to exercise, exercise helps release pain endorphins and stretching helps too-
i get baaad pains usually worst the second to third day , midol works and ibuprofen for bloating-but its good for the doc to know whats going on- theres sometime endometreosis issues but not all periods are the same every month thank god i also eat foods higher in fat when im in pain it helps and eat less when i know its coming

Yes- that's normal !
i reccomend pills called "midol"
when i have my period, i take one a day,
and dont have any cramps or pains.
sometimes you might even forget you have it!

Well periods are not similiar every time for some women. You can try to get on BC to make it shorter.
try to use a heating pad or midol or pamprin or any pain reliver. Also working out helps.
