Is it safe to be really active with an IUD?!
Question: Does being physically active, such as doing vigorous exercises with a lot of bending and twisting, increase the chance of penetration of an IUD, like Mirena? Are there any other risks?

I don't believe that any reasonable exercise program would be prohibited by the placement of an IUD. About the only thing I can think of that would give me pause on that subject would be if you were engaged in an activity that involved repeated sharp blows on your lower abdomen. Something like Tae Kwon Do with a heavy focus on kicks to the stomach.
Think about it this way... what activity can you imagine normal men and women who are lovers doing that could involve "bumping" the uterus? Yep, it sounds like intercourse to me. And, THAT's the reason you have the IUD to start with.
Enjoy your workouts, GaMom. :)
