Swimming and tampons?? Help!?!?!

Question: I haven't had my Period that long and just this month I just started having it just a little more heavy and I am taking these swimming classes and she is paying for them so I really don't want to miss any and I have never worn tampons before and I haven't even asked my mom about it??
so will tampons really help or will they let some blood out because I really don't want that to happen??

and how should I ask my mom?? I don't think she has even heard of tampons?!?

She obviously has to know, just tell her

Just say:
"mom, i think i should start using a tampon because of the fact i have those swim lessons, do you think its a good idea?"
then if she says it is, talk to her about

tampons help A TON. use them whenever you go swimming or hiking.. it will definitly be worth having that awkward convo with your mom

Oh dear.....
I would avoid swimming at all costs! I knew this girl in my class she went swimming and leaked in the water!
May buy a diving suit? But as i said i would avoid it.....

You can swim with tampons, and no blood will come out. I'm SURE your mom has heard of tampons!! lol Just ask her about it, or even just buy some and give them a try. Get the smallest ones if you're worried about using them, but you should be fine.
Good luck.

They will most definitely help. I suggest, though, if you're taking a swimming class and if you're going on a day that it's going to be heavy, use a Super Plus Tampax. I swear by those. They really do work though, and I suggest Tampax.
Just go to your mom and be like, "You know how I'm taking that swimming class? Well I don't want to miss it because of my period, so can I try wearing tampons?"
The worst she can say is no, but you really have nothing to lose.

Good luck :)

tampons do really help...mine have never leaked when swimming
the way i asked my mom was that i said i am on my period and need those things that you use when u go swimming, tampons?
then she got them for me
or you could always get one of your friends to get them for you

Tampons are perfect for swimming. Your flow actually pretty much stops when you're in the water, so don't worry about bleeding out. The tampon stays inside of your vagina and catches all of the blood that may come, but because it's inside your vagina it won't leak into the water.

Just tell your mom that you need tampons to swim. if you don't have them, you'll miss out on swim classes one week every month. That's a lot of money wasted. She'll help you pick out the right ones for you. And believe me, she's heard of tampons. Parents aren't as ignorant towards as much as we think they are.

I'm sure that your Mom knows all about tampons. You would be surprised what we Moms know. No, you will not "leak" iin the pool if you are wearing one. Go with her to the store, pick up a package of "slim" tampons and just ask her if you can throw tham in the cart because you need them for swim class. I doubt she'll say anything except "OK". Give your Mom a chance, I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

your mom has heard of tampons, trust me on this one. You can ask her anything, don't be afraid, she's been having her period since she was a teenager.

As for the swimming and tampons, they will work fine, there should be no leakage. If you have never used tampons before, I suggest you practice because I remember it being a little tricky at first.

Also, if you are a virgin with an intact hymen, you may or may not be able to 'get around it' to get a tampon in. That is something you should be discussing with your mom

Every girl goes through this even i did!
im still scared no because i have 2 go on holiday and my brother and sister both wonna go swimming...
=[
tell yur mum i did and my mum said tht dont worry and it depends how heavy or how light u r?
dont go using heavy super tampons becase u r scared!
if u want advice ask yur doctor but i think the best thing 2 do is go to yur mum...
MUMS r Gr8 trust me!
GOOD LUCK xxxxx

Make sure you use the super obsorbansy ones and if you feel it start to slip excuse yourself to change it and you shouldn't have any problems at all.

Tampons work really good. If your period is heavy you will have to use Super cause they can hold more blood for a longer period of time. And just ask your mom if she thinks it ok to use a tampon during your swimming classes. She will understand.

They will help and they won't let any blood out as long as you change them when they're full. If you're worried about asking your mom is there anyone else you can ask? Also, if it's your first time using them try to get the ones with the plastic applicator (like the Pearl or a generic version of that) because it will be much more comfortable and easy to put in. Try to ask your mom if you can, though, I'm sure she's heard of tampons, especially if she knows what pads are and has any kind of access to a TV, radio, computer or grocery store.
