I'm thinking of getting Implanon... suggestions? Stories?!

Question: I asked a question about birth control yesterday, but now I'm asking another. I don't think pills would be good for me because I don't want to be bothered with taking them every single day. BUT, I do think something like an IUD would be good, except for the fact that most women who haven't had children (like me) have had many problems with them (leave comments about this if you have one of these, haven't had children, and don't have problems).

I was looking up IUDs and linked to something about an implant. This sparked interest and now I want to know everything I can about it. I don't have an appointment yet, but am getting one soon. I'd like to go to the Dr. prepared with questions and information to get straight.

Thank you all so much.

hey, i have had the implanon 3 times. When i had the first two, i was a heavy smoker, like 1 pack a day. The doctors never mentioned anything about smoking while using the implanon. And hey, i survived.
I have loved them (which is why i'm on my third). The first one i had regular periods. The second, i had no periods for 2 years, Hooray! and the third, nothing yet.
I have had the pill and terrible at taking it. It also made me depressed. I love my implanon, and i dont have to worry about a thing for 3 years.
The doctor will just give you a local anesthetic in your arm, then insert it. I always work myself up and scare myself for no reason. You cant feel anything at all. Some people have side effects, but certain people have side effects with certain things. Just like i cant take the pill. GIve the implanon a go, and if it doesnt end up being right for you, then you just get it removed.

why not ask about the nuvaring?
low hormone dose, put it in for 21 remove for 7.
very easy, comfortable and you don't feel it.
it could be worth a shot

word of caution about the ring... i've read some internet horror stories about people getting clots (which obviously isn't a good source of info), but it's enough to make you think. the medical community was all about the patch a few years ago and now it's off the market, so i wouldn't try any super new hormonal birth control. i want the ring but i'm waiting to see if it's bad news too.

just fyi.
