My mom thnks I'm pregnant?!

Question: I don't have a boyfriend.
Anyways I started my period in 7th grade and it's been coming steadily since 8th grade. Then once in like February I went swimming, and after, my period stopped coming. I haven't had one in like two months. My mom says you can get pregnant from swimming because the guys could masturbate into the water and it could...yeah all that.

So she seems to think I'm pregnant. And we both agree that taking a test would be embarassing since I'm only 13. I am not like that...I've had 3 boyfrriends (she only knows about one) and I am a Christian and I would like to stay pure.

What is wrong with me? Is my mom right? What should I do about this?

There is no possible way to get pregnant from swimming. Not ever.

If you are still a virgin, but you have had sexual contact without actual penetration, then it is possible for you to get pregnant if your boyfriend's semen touched your vaginal area. This is rare, but it's possible.

If you have not had that type of relationship with a boyfriend, then please keep in mind that it isn't unusual to occasionally skip a period or two. If you have recently gained or lost weight, if you've been under stress at school with lots of tests or a fight with one of your friends, or a strong disagreement with your parents that has you upset - anything like that can stall your period. Weight loss is probably the #1 reason for younger girls not to have a period. Your body requires a certain amount of normal fat in order to work properly -so if you're very athletic, or if you're underweight, your periods will stop until you gain back to a normal weight.

I hope that helps!

HAHAHA YOUR MOM THINKS YOU CAN GET PREGNANT LIKE THAT-- Okay well first off, this is why people like your mom shouldn't have reproduced. You can NOT get pregnant in a pool if a boy ejaculates in it. You're not pregnant. Girls don't have steady periods for a long time.

Your mom is wrong because once the sperm hits the water then you can no longer get pregnant your mom needs help!

ok no offense to ur mom but go back to health class unless a guy is cumming inside of u u cannot get pregnant....theres nothing embarrassing about taking a test at 13...unless ur mom is the one embarrassed...and if ur still a virgin then ur definately not pregnant

it might just be an irregular period. It's not unheard of. Since you just started pretty recently its likely that its just an irregular cycle. If you want to be super sure then make an appointment with an OBGYN. Its good to do so anyway to make sure everything is as it should be down there.

Its rare and highly highly unlikely that you can get pregnant from dudes masturbating in the pool cause first off, sperm does not live very long outside of the body, secondly, the chlorine in the pool will probably kill them anyways.

first of all, congradulations on your desicion to stay pure! i have heard of the TINY chance of people getting std's from pools, but it is HIGHLY unlikely. Since you ar relitively new at having your period, i wouldnt worry about it. (your period will probably be irregular for the first two teayrs anyway) I will be praying for you though!

you cant get pregnant from the pool. Sometimes you miss a period or two. Sperm dies when it hits the air. Atleast thats what i've heard.

You're young so your period is still getting settled into a regular cycle. Even if it was coming regularily, there are plenty of things that could throw it off. There is absolutely, positively NO WAY you could get pregnant from swimming! First of all, pools have so much chlorine in them, the sperm would die on contact and second of all, the semen would become so diluted in the water that the possibiliy of one, supersperm, surviving the chlorine to find your vagina in a huge swimming pool is like a billion to one (that's probably an underestimate actually).

Tell your mom to chill out and take you to the doc if she's that worried but YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT!

NO you can NOT get pregnant that way!!!! It is totally normal for young girls to skip periods for month and even years...Relax. If you have not been sexually active....intercourse...then you can't be pregnant!

sometimes when you dont have regular menstrual periods, there could be an infection, or sometimes it just comes every 2-3 months,! sometimes it becomes irregular without a reason, so if you dont think that you are pregnant, and you dont show the rest of the symptoms of early staged pregnancy (nausea, belly aches, head aches, and mood changes) you should not fell embarrassed about getting a test just to be sure but i think that you should not worry about it.

yea i dont think ur preggers since uve only had ur period for a year just cause it was coming smoothly only till the 8th grade and just cause its all ferked up now it doesnt mean ur preggers...lol the health teacher never told us that yea i dont think u can just get preggers from a pool i mean was it a public pool??? was there a dude masterbating in it?? i still dont think u can get pregnant for that

Have you fooled around without intercourse? If you were both naked, assumed the position, but didn't actually penetrate, sperm can swim if they come into contact with vaginal secretions. You said you are pure but how pure? It's very possible that your body is still adjusting. You could go to the doctor and get a blood test to prove your mom wrong.

First of all, you cannot get pregnant from a swimming pool, sperm has to live in a certain temp and when it isnt at the right temp it dies so it would be impossible for it to survive in swimming pool water especially with all the chemicals. You could be stressed, periods can stop when you are stressed. I think your mom is very wrong but if YOU are concerned your pregnant do a test, it can never hurt.

Your mother is, for lack of better words; mentally deficient. Getting pregnant from a swimming pool is about as likely as the pope saying "sorry guys, we're letting satan take over the church now, hope you don't mind".

You should go to the doctor and explain that you have suddenly stopped getting your period as there are many things that could cause their sudden disappearance other than pregnancy such: increased stress, losing weight, exercising too much, and hormone problems (some of the latter can be somewhat serious).

You should inform your mother that you no longer wish to heed her advice because she is incapable of forming rational thought.

your mom is stupid, sperm dies once it hits air, u can only get pregnt if u have s*x...everyone know that but little kids...haha serioulsy how can u even worry!!!

What is wrong with you? My God, what is wrong with your mom???? You can't get pregnant from swimming in water where a boy may have masturbated, I can't even believe she believes that. That's just crazy to me. I know one young girl that goes for 8 months before she has a period. It varies from girl to girl. Not to say that you are bad or doing anything, and no disrespect intended but sometimes when a girl has problems with having regular periods the Doctors may put them on birth control pills to regulate the hormones. By doing this their periods become regular. There is nothing wrong with you and no, if you haven't had sex there is no chance that you are pregnant. I am sending you a site on birth control to regulate your period. Read it and have your mom read it as well, than talk about what you may want to do. I am also sending you a site about getting pregnant in a pool. Really have your mom read that one. Good luck sweetie.

No, your mom is not right.

If you haven't had sex, you're not pregnant.

There are multiple reasons that you might skip a period. You're still young and your body is still adapting. Even grown women skip their periods every once in awhile.

If you don't get another period in a few months, talk to a doctor, they can help figure out why you stopped.

If your mom really thought you were pregnant, she would have bought you a home pregnancy test like eons ago. She wouldn't have agreed with a 13-year-old that "it would be embarassing". She would have tested you so fast it would have made your head spin.

You cannot get pregnant from swimming unless you had sex while swimming. Your mother surely knows that. Sperm cannot survive in a pool, or a hot tub, or anything except JUST the right body fluids.

It's the most normal thing in the world for a 13-year-old to have irregular periods. I have no idea why both of you would jump to such an erroneous conclusion.

Everyones said it already, theres no way youre pregnant from swimming in the pool, so take that big breath of relief.
There are two possible reason that I know of. Youre still young, and your cycle is still adjusting(which can take years to do, even if you were regular for a while) so you might be irregular (Hell, I'v been getting mine for 6+ years now and I was still irregular 'til I went on BC a couple months ago!)
Also, If youre active, you may have amenoreah. Female athletes sometimes dont get their period on a regular basis because of their body fat. If youre just thin or have recently had a growth spurt, its possible that you are experiancing temporary amenoreah.
And dont be embarrassed by taking a pregnancy test. Its very responsible and smart to take care of your sexual health, and many people dont do it just because theyre afraid to risk a little embarrasment.
I hope everything goes well!
