SEVERE period cramping is NOT normal! A lot of women do get cramping, but not so severe that it won't go away with something like Advil or Motrin!. If you have had these over the counter medicines and the cramps still are severe you need to see a doctor (Gynecologist) ASAP! You can get prescribed a strong pain medication to help you with the bad cramps and also maybe a good examination to find out why you are having such severe cramping!. Birth Control Pills may help regulate your cycle and lesson your period pain but before you decide to take them, make sure you are aware of the side effects, they can be harsh on your body!. One of the most common reasons for severe pelvic cramping is Endometriosis!. It also causes irregular and heavy periods!. PLEASE tell your mom to take you to the doctor!. And when you see the doctor make sure you don't leave the office until you have a prescription for a strong pain medication!. Make it known to the doctor that the over the counter MEDS like Motrin and Advil don't work for you! And then invest money in a good hot water bottle, you can buy this at any drug store!. It works great on your sore pelvic region!.
DO NOT TAKE 1200 mg of Ibuprofen (MIDOL, Advil or Motrin) that is a VERY dangerous amount to take!. The girl above gave bad advice!. You can't take any more than 800 mg every 6 hours!.
Best of luck with the pain!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i was watching the news, and there were some symptoms to tell if your birth control could possible give you a blood clot, and severe stomach cramps was one of them, others were if your legs hurt all the time and headaches all the time, if you have any of those i would call your doctor!. I take midol for my cramps, try taking it first thing in the morning rather then when you start getting the cramps, if your like me, i get cramps so bad i feel like someone is stabbing me in the stomach with a 12 inch knife, doctors tell you to get a hot water bottle or heating pad and lay it on your stomach, but that dont work for me!. Hope i helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com

If you have severe cramps that midol etc!. is not helping ask your doctor for something stronger!. I cant remember the name of it but there is a prescription drug that really!! works like magic I was so happy I took it!. your doctor should know it, its an anti-inflammatory type of drug!. Also stay away from caffeine and salty foods this time of the month it will help!. I dont know much about the birth control pill except that a certain one called ortho-tricyclen halps with acne, all of the b!.c!. pills add about ten pounds of weight but if your sexual active thats alot less weight than a baby would add lol! I personally cant take the b!.c!. pill because it made me horribly nauscious but It doesnt do that to most people!. Also if you dont have midol at home and are severly cramping take 1200mg of Ibuprofen!. I know thats a ton but someone told me to do that before and it really worked because its an anti inflammatory and it took all the swelling away also its waaaay cheaper than midol!. Hope you feel better soon!. uuugh!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If a woman's menstrual cramps are too severe to be managed by over the counter medication, your doctor might prescribe low dose oral contraceptives containing estrogen and progestin in a regular or extended cycle!. This type of approach can prevent ovulation (the monthly release of an egg) and reduce the production of prostaglandins which, in turn, reduces the severity of cramping and causes a light menstrual flow!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
