Question: After you have your period how long do cramps usually last!?
i just want to know more about period stuff because im guessing im might get my period in the summer, and im 12Www@Answer-Health@Com

She's right!.!.!.They are worse in the beginning!. They sometimes start before your period, but they usually end before you even stop bleeding!

Here is my period advice:

If you start to feel cramps and/or have diarrhea and/or start to "spot"!.!.!.get ready! Which means, don't wear light colored shorts or pants, start to wear panty liners and carry a tampon or pad with you just in case it comes!

A lot of girls have asked about how to wear tampons, so you can look up those answers if you need them, but basically you just need to follow the directions on the box!. If you are going to buy some now to have on hand when you are ready (which I think you should) look for plastic applicators and slim or teen styles (or regular or light)!. You should also get a box of pads (for heavy, in case tampons don't work out) and panty liners, for those days of spotting!.

Your first one might be very light, only spotting!. And it might only be a little bit of dark blood!. Don't worry!.

Also don't worry if it is not regular for the first year!. That is very normal!

I suggest keeping a calendar of when you have your period, what your flow is like and your symptoms all month!.!.!.cramps, moodiness, crying, bloating, tender breasts, headaches, skin break outs!.!.!.it's all related!. I know it sounds like a lot, so at the VERY LEAST, keep track of days you bleed!. That way if you do start to have problems with irregularity, you will have everything in order to tell the doctor!.

Drink a lot of water to help flush things out!!!

Try not to give in to salty cravings!
Same w/ sweets and chocolate!.

Caffeine makes things worse too!.
Cut caffeine all month - NONE during cramps!.

Try eating bananas and oatmeal!.

Hot water bottles (can make them by doubling zip lock bags) or those buckwheat pillows that go in the microwave work GREAT for cramps!.

They make some NICE herbal teas now!.!.!.I use "Traditional Medicinals" and "Yogi Tea"!.!.!.look in the health food section of your grocery store!.

Some swear by Midol!. I couldn't LIVE without Motrin!
Some people even start to take it 2 or 3 days before their period starts!

Ginger ale & popcycles might help w/ nausea!.

I've heard exercise helps!.!.!.but I've never felt up to it!
Some women swear by sit-ups!.!.!.they say the cramps start to go away as soon as you do a few!. Others say regular exercise all month, esp the days before, help a lot!

DRINK WATER!!!!

Take a nice warm bath, lay down with your tea and hot pack!.!.!.!.
And just rest and wait for it to pass!

hmmm well I have my full period for about 8 days!. The cramps sometimes start to happen before I even get the darn thing!.!.!.!.but then they continue for about 2 or 3 days becoming less intense!. 1t day and 2nd day are the worse but it depends cecause when I first started getting mine, the cramps didnt hurt nearly as bad as they do now so it depends!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
