Should I go back to the doctor about my very irregular period or not?!

Question: Should I go back to the doctor about my very irregular period or not!?
Ok basically this is quite complicated but I'll try and simplify it!.!.!.
I'm 16, started my period 2 years ago!. My period always lasted 3-6 weeks long with several months in between each one!.
So in December 07 I went to the doctor, was on the birth control pill Microgynon 30 for 3 months, got terrible mood swings so went on Loestrin 20 for 9 days- even worse mood swings so I had to stop!.
Went back to the doctor- he said I should have 2-3 months off the pill to get stablised, and then come back if my period was still well insane!.
So about 6 weeks after my last "pill period" I had a normal period, thought I was fixed!. Then nothing for 2 months- then I had an old type period (didn't hurt at all, quite light) but it stopped after 2 weeks, but spotted 1 week before and 1 week after but only a tiny bit!

So I don't know what to do!. My mum says I shouldn't start the pill again unless it gets 6 weeks again- terrible mood swings!.
Oh and Im not sexually active!. What shall I do!?
(sorry its complex)Www@Answer-Health@Com

In your position i'd say go to a DIFFERENT doctor!. The one your seeing seems to just be switching you from med to med!. Perhaps they should do an ultrasound to check everything out, see why you're bleeding so much!. My sister had the same problem and it was a pain!. Her resolution was seeing a better doctor who had better answers and correct medication and things to do to make it better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with your mom!.!.!.!.as long as you are not sexually active I would not do the birth control pill thing!.!.!.!.!.be sure to have your blood count checked to monitor for anemia from the long periods!.!.!.!.!.another thing to consider is NuvaRing instead of the daily pills!.!.!.!.!.!.I had the same problem as a teen but was fortunate that birth control pills worked for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that happened to me from birthconrtol pills, def wait the 6 weeks and try another one!.
its going to be trial and error for you but you will hopefully find one that is good for youWww@Answer-Health@Com

well it is not normal but not that bad!.!. the only time you should worry is when your period gets sooo heavy that you go through 8-10 pads a day!. If that happens you would need to go to the doctor for some serious check up!. Obviously the pills are not going to help you because it realeses a lot of hormones and that is what gets you all moody!. If you do wish to take the pills again ask the doctor to give you the lowest hormone level they have!. But most likely some one in your family has had the irregularity!. Hope that help!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
