Question: Can a birth control pill cause weight gain, or is it simply overeating!?
I have tried 3 different birth control pills: Loestrin, Femcon, and I just started Lybrel today (the other two produced nonstop bleeding)!.
I noticed that After I stopped taking the birth control pills for 3 months, I gained about 10lbs!. I don't know if the change in hormones caused my appetite to change, or what!?
Basically, my question is if it's the pill itself that causes weight gain/loss, or if it's the hormones that trigger your appetite, causing you to eat more/less!.
I just can't see a pill causing you to gain weight, without the individual changing their eating habits!.

It's the change in hormones, they tend to cause an increase in appetite and in some women, cause the body to retain fat!.!.!. But usually it's the increase in appetite, I noticed that when I went off the pill for a couple of months I lost weight, but I also noted I wasn't hungry nearly as oftenWww@Answer-Health@Com
The reason for this is because the pill gives you all the symptoms of being pregnant, weight gain, mood swings, bigger boobs!.

Changes in hormones can easily cause weight gain, or even loss in some cases!. They can affect your metabolism so they can cause changes even if your eating habits don't change!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh yes, the pill can DEFINITELY cause you to gain weight!. I was taking Ortho Tri Cyclen from about age 18-22!. When it started giving me yeast infections suddenly, my doctor switched me to Ovcon!. I gained about 25-30 pounds in 3 1/2 months!. I didn't even really notice it was happening until suddenly nothing fit anymore!. I went on a strict diet and started exercising and i couldn't lose any weight! I switched to Loestrin and same thing, I could not lose weight AT ALL!. I was stuck! I went off the pill, and ever since I am able to lose weight by doing the same routines I was doing on the pill!. Some people say it can't make you lose weight, but it all depends on each separate case!. Some women gain weight on the pills and others do not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
