I asked mum to get me some tampons one day and she refused and said
"They are unhealthy for virgins" And she still wont let me use them!.
Is it true!? I know it can break the hymen!.!. but then horse riding and running etc; could also cause it to break!. Is my mum right or is it OK!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Using tampons are only unhealthy if you don't change them regularily and of course there's a slight risk of TSS, which can in some cases be fatal!. Your mum is probably just trying to scare you off of using them because of this reason!. Using sanitary towels are just as effective and they have developed so much over the years that they now come in many sizes and shapes!. To be honest it is your choice about what you want to use aslong as you use them correctly!.

You're mum isn't right! Tampons are not more unhealthy if you're a virgin!. It is very unlikely that a soft structure like a tampon can break the hymen!. The most important thing about tampons is to change them regularly, because the risk of tampons is infection, when the stay in place for too long!. This risk is the same for virgins and sexually active women!.

It really is a personal choice!.!.!. when I was younger, tampons were uncomfortable for me, even the smallest sizes, so I waited until I was 18 to begin using them!. The only reason they might be "unhealthy" is that girls new to their use, don't change them often enough and can get toxic shock syndrome as a result!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're correct!. Tampons are not at all unhealthy for virgins!. I used them when I was twelve, didn't lose my virginity until eighteen!. And I'm fine!.

I have never heard that before!. It sounds like your mom might be a little old fashioned, tampons are known to be safe and dont have anything to do with virginity or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
