How will my doctor remove my Merina IUD if he cannot see the strings?!

Question: How will my doctor remove my Merina IUD if he cannot see the strings!?
I am having my Merina IUD removed next Friday and my doctor told me he might be able to just go in and remove it by pulling the strings but the last exam he did the strings were not visible!. He said he might have to put me under anasticia to get it out!. Will he have to dilate my cervix, will i be all the way asleep, and how long will it take, and will it hurt!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

My sister just had surgery 2 days ago to have her IUD removed!. They couldn't find it a couple weeks ago so she got an ultrasound for them to find it!. She was put under general anesthesia so I had to pick her up from the hospital and bring her home!. Her surgery took about an hour or so and she did have a bit of cramping!. She said she's feeling a little better today but it was pretty bad a few hours after she got home!.

Did you have any severe side effects from the Mirena and is that why you're getting it removed!? She had migraines, abdominal cramping (not period cramps), hair loss, depression, weight gain and mood swings while on it for 6 months and was astounded by all the bad reports she found online!. She regrets ever getting it!

Good luck with the removal and hope everything goes ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he did not feel the strings during your last vist, did he do an ultra sound to ensure it was still in place!? That is usually the first thing that they do, not just assume it is!. They have been know to dislodge!. That is why you are suspose to check placement of strings monthly!. In any event it will probably be an in office visit, with just local anesthetic!. That should be enough, and you should have relatively little pain afterwards!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your strings are long enough then they can clamp on them and pull it out in under 30 seconds!. If they need to go in and dilate you!. Then you are looking at about 30 min procedure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
