I think that really depends on the situation!.
Like, if you're in a hurry, a lunchtime doctor's appointment, then you have to do it orally!. You've only got so much time, and the doctor has needs to be fulfilled!.
But say you've had a couple beers, and the doctor is a real charmer (like a Bill Clinton type), and he starts wiggling that thermometer at you!.!.!.at some point you've just got to say what the hell, lets get this temperature!.
