Question: What is this? Is it common or normal?
Answers:
Your calculations are off by the sounds of things - ovulation occurs two weeks prior to menstruation, if your period started on the 16th that puts ovulation around the 2nd, which is more than 16 days ago. You can't have ovulated during your period and if you had become pregnant during your last ovulation you would not have menstruated.
You're currently on day 8 of course cycle, even if you have a VERY short menstrual cycle it is impossible within the two days since menstruation ended for you to have ovulated, for that egg to have been fertilised, and for it to implant itself. I doubt you've even ovulated yet.
It's likely remains of your period.
