Question: Feeling faint, hot, heart beats fast: Is this PMS or anxiety?
I know for a fact that my menstrual cycle should be starting any day now. Usually my anxiety gets worse (even though I'm on a low dose of medication for it.) and I have panic and anxiety attacks.

Today I was at work (I'm 17 and not sexually active btw) and I randomly started feeling like I couldn't breathe (normal for an anxiety attack), but then I noticed my heart was pounding and I started feeling faint. I was hot too.

I hadn't eaten anything since 10 am (it's 4:00) so maybe that had something to do with it, but I can't tell if it's PMS or not.

HELP ?

Answers:

Could be PMS, blood sugar, dehydration, food allergy, or a combination. That's how I feel when I get a food allergy attack (I'm allergic to corn.) but it is often accompanied by dehydration.

I guess I could give you some details about food allergy in case you get these particular symptoms: Throat seems to swell/close, ears get red and/or hot, red face, dizziness, tiredness, swelling or numbness of the tongue, difficulty breathing, blurred vision, headache, nausea or excessive hunger, panic. I'm not saying if you have any of these that you have food allergy, but these are some common things I get if I eat corn... and it *does* result in a massive panic attack.

I can tell you that caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco can aggravate these types of situations so best to avoid.

P.S. I just re-read that a little bit and saw that you hadn't eaten in six hours! Like I said...... blood sugar! ;p That's a long time to not eat anything.. esp. at your age. Hope you feel better!
