Question about Birth control pills?!
Question: Question about Birth control pills?
I'm NOT sexually active, and I won't be any time soon.
I need to know the long and short term effects of the pill. And also, is there anything else going on the pill can help with?
I'm 16 btw
Answers:
Short term.. For the first few cycles of birth control you may feel a little nauseous, but that goes away. Your first period on birth control may be long and heavy, but that only lasts one cycle.
Long term.. there really isn't any long term problems. Many women are on it for years with no problems.. my grandmother included.
It will help to lighten your periods, make them regular, less cramping, less acne.. a more stable you.
I will agree with what the others said but just know this --
The pill is a responsibility. You have to take it at the same time every day, give or take maybe 20 min. If you forget, you stand the chance of screwing up your cycle. This means if you take your pill at 8 a.m. and it's saturday, you have to set your alarm for 8 a.m. and take it. It's a pain in the butt. Usually if you are sexually active you remember to take it, for obvious reasons. Otherwise, if you are taking it to regulate a period, you usually can't remember to take it.
at 16 you should be having a lot of fun, not taking birth control.
Pill helps with shorter/lighter periods. I got my period on Thursday night and I just finished my period today. No cramps or anything. Absolutely love it. When I started the pill I experienced nausea. The first week might also feel very emotional. I didn't experience it, but alot of people do. I also suggest taken the pill at bed time. Best of luck!
