Menstruation, diarrhoea and nausea?!
Question: Menstruation, diarrhoea and nausea?
After having missed my period for 3 or 4 months (I was on the pill for irregular periods, my doctor took me off it after a year, and my periods are still irregular), it came again yesterday. It's very heavy, and I had terrible stomach cramps yesterday, light diarrhoea and felt sick. The pain and sickness went away after a couple of hours, and I was fine overnight and when I got up this morning. But 2.5 hours ago, I had breakfast and literally 10 minutes later I felt sick again (particularly when I'm moving around, lying down/sitting still isn't so bad) and I have had almost constant diarrhoea (literally water) and the onset of stomach cramps again (although nowhere near as bad as yesterday).
I get fairly used to having slight diarrhoea during the first day of my period, but it was controllable to an extent, and nowhere near as bad as this. I have also experienced quite severe stomach cramps before, but again, yesterday's were almost unbearable and paracetamol had little effect. I have never felt sick because of my period before.
Any suggestions as to what might be the case of this? Could it just be my period coming back with a vengeance because I have missed it for a few months, or do you think there might be another issue?

It sounds to me like a bad combination of a nasty flu bug and your period. None of your symptoms seem very scary although very inconvenient. Just stay rested and well hydrated(diarrhea causes a lot of fluid loss) and it should pass in a few days! Use a heating pad for the cramps and my doctor told me that taking half a benadryl and two tylenol is the same as some prescription drug for cramps. I take and feel great! The benadryl might help with the congestion to. I hope you feel better!
