why is my period light and brown?!

I got my period as planned 2 days ago and its extremely light...like i dont even really need a pad or tampon at all. and its been like this for 2 days and im super worried. and i have no cramps at all. i know im not pregnant cuz i did a pregnancy test. but am i gonna die? omg and ive never had a pap test and im 20.. and i know i should get one.. i know this.. but is this normal ?please help
