Girl help with summer problem!?!
Question: Girl help with summer problem!?
Answers:
hey, mine is irregular too, and its soo annoying. my first year it would last approximately 2 weeks, and would be so heavy that i would become anemic every time. then just a few months ago i have been getting it regularly once a month for 3 days and its been normal flow. When mine was heavy i used the super tampons. The very first time i got mine, it was literally the day we left for the beach and we were going for 3 weeks. I had my period for 2 out of the 3 weeks... omg it sucked. but after like 3 days of sitting on the beach my mom and i went to the drug store i got tampons, tried them, LOVED them, and then i decided to go swimming in the ocean. the trick was putting in a new one right before you go in the water, and replacing it AS SOON AS YOU GET OUT! also i only use tampax pearl. also, you many not need "super" but its just going to be more absorbent, its not going to hurt or feel funny because its bigger.. its not that much bigger. also its so easy to use tampons, and now i use them all the time, i only sleep with a pad (because of toxic shock syndrome). I hope i have helped somewhat.
also, maybe im crazy for swimming in the ocean with my period, some people say i could get attacked by a shark, but im just fearless. i wouldnt worry bout sharks! :) HAVE A GREAT SUMMER GIRLY!
I had a similar problem when I was 14. I've always used tampax pear because it has a slim applicator that expends when inserted. Playtex sport is more for strenuous activities like soccer, running, volleyball, etc.
Tampax Pearl has everything you need!
tampax pearl, light for light days regular+ for other days
I would suggest you consider a menstrual cup instead.
Cups are far safer and more hygienic than tampons so no risk of infections or TSS and can lessen cramps, as they're safer it means you can use before your period just-in-case your period shows-up, with light flow when you'd not be able to use tampons, and you could practice before your period which you also can't do with tampons. Cups can be worn for 12 hours and hold a lot more flow so don't leak like tampons and no need to worry about what absorbency to use, they'd be much better for swimming too because as well as not leaking they don't absorb water and nothing shows outside.
If sticking with tampons;
Cottons - http://www.cottons.com.au
These are better than brands like Tampax or Playtex because they're made from cotton rather than rayon and not chemically treated so lower risk of TSS and they are softer so easier to insert, they also expand more evenly so less likely to leak during swimming. You would need to start with the lowest absorbency and work from there to figure out what absorbency to use when - if the tampon leaks within an hour use higher absorbency, but if dry/white in places after 4-6 hours max then use lower absorbency or don't use tampons if already using lightest absorbency.
Avoid applicators - these are made for women who aren't comfortable touching their bodies, they aren't made to make insertion easier as some seem to believe. Non-applicator tampons are easier to use as less complicated, give more control over depth/direction, and rounder tips - often applicators also have the problem that girls push the applicator but end up pushing the applicator away from their vagina rather than pushing the tampon into their vagina so causing discomfort.
