Tubal ligation - young, no kids, how can i get it?!

Question:

Tubal ligation - young, no kids, how can i get it?

I am a childfree woman. Please don't debate me on this. I have a billion and one reasons I don't want kids, I've heard every argument, and I am ABSOLUTELY SURE I don't want kids now or ever.

Unfortunately, I am quite young. As any young women (23 or under) successfully gotten a tubal ligation, or the Essure procedure? What sort of things convinced the surgeon to do it for you? Believe me, I have a reason from every category. What clinics did you find to be particularly open-minded? And finally, did any of you wind up pulling the law into it (I know that some states have anti-discrimination laws for women with no kids)?

Thanks a bunch!

jay_d_skinner: That was incredibly disrespectful. What if I just want to have sex with the one I love without having to worry about the headache of pregnancy, and eventual abortion? What if I just want to have less anxiety? And what if not everyone one earth wants kids?

The "right man" will not change my mind. Because the "right man" will either not want kids either, or will be willing to make that compromise for me. I currently have the "right man," and he is fully supportive of me and my reproductive choices.

Don't chastize me.

Answers:

Congratulations on your decision not to have children! The world is extremely overpopulated and your decision is much appreciated.

It will be difficult to find a doctor to do this operation because you are young. All the doctor will consider is the potential med mal liability if you decide later that you want to have children, but cannot because of the tubal. I suppose an attorney could draw up a disclaimer for the doctor, but disclaimers are usually worth less than the paper they are written on and doctors know this.

For all those who are calling you "selfish" for your decision all I have to say is they are wrong. What you are doing is "selfless." "Selfish" is having children! Having children is never about the children (they obviously have no say in the matter one way or the other) but is always about the needs of the parents (the need to have sex, the need to fill a hole in their lives, the need to control another human being, the need to etc., etc., etc.)
